When I first saw this article on Tom's Hardware, I obviously didn't read it properly, or perhaps I only scan-read the headline in a notification, otherwise I wouldn't have reacted with such shock and excitement when Perifractic's video popped up on my recommended YouTube videos last night in bed!
I definitely remember seeing the poster, with the strapline 'honouring our past, innovating the future', and thinking that was nice, but that there'd been small revivals of the brand before that hadn't really gone anywhere - wasn't there some talk about a Commodore smartphone a while back?
But this is very, very different. This is Perifractic, of the love-for-retro-computing-filled YouTube channel Retro Recipes, not only buying Commodore, but bringing back Commodore veterans to staff it. In 2025.
Those who know me know how excited I get over teletext. I never even owned a Commodore as a child (although I picked up a second-hand Amiga much later as an adult), and I'm ecstatic! I can only imagine how excited Peri must feel. Actually, none of us have to imagine it, because he (and others) are radiating it uncontrollably in this video.
This is actually part two, but it's the one I saw first, last night. I'm about to watch part one now.
